Invitation for Bids
Sealed BIDS for the construction of New London Business & Technology Center Phase 1 Water and Sewer Line Extensions will be received by the Bedford County Public Service Authority at the Bedford County Public Service Authority’s Office, 1723 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, Virginia 24523 until 2:00 PM, local prevailing time on Thursday, September 6, 2007 and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud.
Contract Description:
- Installation of approximately 1,392-feet of 12-inch and 1,225-feet of 8-inch diameter water line along with hydrants, valves, and associated appurtenances, including 2 borings for roadway crossings.
- Installation of approximately 4,918-feet of 8-inch gravity sewer line along with manholes, and associated appurtenances, including 1 boring for roadway crossing.
Withdrawal of Bids
The procedure for withdrawal of BIDS shall be according to Section 2.2-4330 of the Code of Virginia.
Contract Award
Contract is to be awarded on a unit price basis.
Bidding Documents
Copies of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS may be obtained from Southern Graphics & Supply located at 2332 Franklin Road SW, Roanoke, Virginia 24014 (telephone: 540-342-6449) upon payment of $40 for each 22x34 set. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS with 11x17 size prints of plans may be obtained upon payment of $20. All payments shall be made to the Bedford County PSA. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS can be downloaded from the BCPSA web site (www.bcpsa.com) free of charge. MASTER SPECIFICATIONS can also be downloaded from the BCPSA web site free of charge.
Deadline for questions on the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS must be made to the BCPSA by close of business on Thursday, August 30, 2007.
A mandatory PREBID CONFERENCE will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at the Bedford County PSA Office.
Only bidders who attend the PREBID CONFERENCE will be considered eligible to submit bids.
Contract Licensing
BIDDER'S attention is invited to the requirements of Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia pertaining to registration which specifies the following:
If a contract is for $70,000 or more, or if the total value of all construction, removal, repair or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelve-month period is $500,000 or more, the bidder is required under Title 54.1, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, to show evidence of being licensed as a "Class A Contractor." If a contract is $7,500 or more but less than $70,000 or the total value of all construction, removal, repair or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelve month period is $150,000 or more, but less than $500,000, the bidder is required to show evidence of being licensed as a "Class B Contractor." The bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing the bid and shall place in the bid over his signature whichever of the following notations is appropriate:
"Licensed Class A Virginia Contractor No. ."
"Licensed Class B Virginia Contractor No. ."
